The Lord of Highest Honor
The prophet Malachi rebukes Israel for offering polluted sacrifices to God. They had ignored God’s commands regarding worship and instead were bringing lame, imperfect animals for sacrifice. Through Malachi, God tells Israel that no worship is better than defiled worship. Thankfully, what God demands, he also provides. In the ultimate demonstration of his love, God gave his Son—the undefiled and blameless lamb—who became the ultimate sacrifice and atoned for the sins of all who believe in him. Through Jesus, our great High Priest, we are now invited to worship in spirit and in truth.
