Gathered Under the Word: Elect Exiles
The church’s identity shapes its worship, relationships, and witness.1 Peter 1:1–2 explores the church’s identity as a divinely created community. God’s Word not only calls his people but forms them into a spiritual household—those chosen by the Father, sanctified by the Spirit, and sprinkled with the blood of Christ. As elect exiles, our true citizenship is in heaven, and our gathering bears witness to that heavenly reality. Built upon Christ, the rejected yet chosen cornerstone, the church becomes a visible expression of God’s sovereign grace, manifesting his glory among a world that does not yet know him.
