Good News for Dead People
In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul delivers a message of hope and assurance. All mankind, Paul explains, is born in sin—dead in our trespasses, and deserving of God’s wrath. But because of God’s unfathomable mercy, he does not punish us as our sins deserve. The life of the believer is immutably linked to Jesus—his death pays for our sins; his righteousness covers our failures; his resurrection becomes our resurrection, and his ascension, our ascension. Because Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father, the believer’s place with him in heaven is secure.
