At the Table with Jesus
At the end of Luke 24, after walking with them to Emmaus and explaining the Scriptures concerning himself, Jesus shares a meal with his disciples. Finally, their eyes are opened, and they recognize him. Similarly, when we look at our lives through the lens of Scripture, we, like these disciples, can be moved from hopelessness and sorrow into a hopeful calling and purpose. When the risen Christ draws near, he opens our eyes by his grace; he transforms our hearts by his word, and he compels his followers to go and to tell of him.
