Jesus as the Only Hope for a Dying World
Like the ocean’s tide, death comes slowly but cannot be stopped. In John’s Gospel, the apostle recounts the death of Jesus’ friend Lazarus. It is into this context of death and mourning and sadness that Jesus claimed, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Only Jesus can claim such power and authority, as He alone defeated death through his resurrection. Jesus is the Son of God who is himself the only hope for a dying world.
