Love for God and love for the world--as corrupted by sin and in rebellion against God--are mutually exclusive. Christians face constant temptation to indulge our desires and find satisfaction in what we can attain, but our allegiance is misplaced when we put our trust in these things. Although the world and its desires are temporary, those who place their trust in Jesus abide in Him for eternity.
