Called to be Jesus' Witnesses
Scripture gives believers many identities: brothers and sisters, children of God, and the bride of Christ. These names describe our relationship with God. In Acts 1, however, Jesus gives his followers another name: my witnesses—a title that describes our relationship with the world. Christians are called to testify about Jesus to an unbelieving world, yet this calling is impossible without the help of the Holy Spirit, who emboldens and enables us. Faithful witnesses think like Christ, obey the call to share the gospel, and rely on the Spirit’s power to reach others with the good news of Christ’s redeeming grace.
